AAA Show Your Card & Save® Program Achieves Record Member Savings During Tough Economy In 2002

Orlando, Fla., January 8, 2003

AAA’s Show Your Card & Save®, a discount purchasing program offered exclusively to AAA’s 45 million members in the United States and Canada, saved members a record $396 million in 2002, helping many families offset the effects of the sluggish economy in 2002.

According to AAA, member savings on goods and services – ranging from hotel rooms to watches, restaurants to sneakers – increased by more than 15 percent over 2001.

“AAA’s Show Your Card & Save program is an outstanding membership benefit at any time,” said Tom Wilt, AAA Partnership Programs managing director. “But, during tough economic times, it can make a real difference for families trying get the most out of every dollar or looking for a way to help pay for a family vacation.”

Wilt said the Show Your Card & Save program has already signed five new partners for 2003. These include the Charthouse and Muer’s restaurant chains, the Hard Rock Vault attraction in Orlando and e-commerce partners HickoryFarms.com and In Motion Pictures.

“We are continually looking to add major brands to the Show Your Card & Save program. Every time we add a new partner, AAA members save more money, and we like that,” Wilt said.

In addition to adding new partners in 2003, AAA plans to expand its Search for Savings national partner database on aaa.com and to expand its network of international reciprocal partner clubs in Europe, Mexico and Asia.

As North America’s largest motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA provides its 45 million members with travel, insurance, financial and automotive-related services. Since its founding in 1902, the not-for-profit, fully tax paying AAA has been a leader and advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.
